Classic Album Review: Collective Soul | 7even Year Itch

Because 8ight Year Itch just doesn’t have the same ring to it, y’know?

This came out in 2001 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

THE STORY: OK, it’s really been eight years since these Georgia alt-rockers first issued their debut album Hints, Allegations and Things Left Unsaid on an indie label. But 8ight Year Itch just doesn’t have the same ring to it, y’know?

THE GOODS: Just under a dozen cuts culled from their five CDs, including their breakthrough hit Shine and last year’s Why Pt. 2.

THE GOODIES: Two great new glammy modern-rock cuts — Energy and Next Homecoming — that suggest Ed Roland and co. are getting ready to rock again — a welcome change from their last album Blander, er Blender.

THE DOWNSIDE: That we’ve got a while to wait until we see if there’s more where those new tunes came from.

PLAY IT WHILE: Driving to the used-CD store to trade in Blender.
