You can’t win them all. Except today. Every one of Monday’s Late-Night TV Music submissions is a winner — even the one that I expected to suck.
For the record, that would be the much-hyped new single from Tom Odell, Numb. But it turns out to be a decent number, as you can see here from its premiere on The Late Late Show With James Corden. Also impressive: H.E.R.’s lively performance of Fight For You on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and Shelley FKA DRAM’s moody Exposure, featured on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. But for me, the artist of the night is Israeli singer-songwriter Noga Erez, who doesn’t even need to stand up to knock you out with her laid-back treasure Views on Jimmy Kimmel Live. You can’t lose.
