THE EDITED PRESS RELEASE: “Harm & Ease are a rock ’n’ roll band originally founded in Burlington, Ont., made up of Rylan Whalen (vocals), Danny Lopez (guitar), John Goodblood (bass/guitar) and Ilan Amores (drums). This lineup formed in Buenos Aires, Argentina, after several reiterations revolving around founding members Whalen and Lopez. The addition of Goodblood and Amores proved proficient in rounding out an already-brilliant basis.
In 2017, the band recorded their first album Wonderful Changes in a Buenos Aires mansion was about to be demolished. It showcased their melodic brand of songwriting, featuring lush arrangements and a choral quality to their backup vocals. Their second album Black Magic Gold cranked up the volume and featured a more blues rock-driven sound, with swampier, darker songs and funeral-march horns. These two albums helped them reach an international following as they took over the South American rock scene.
Having roots and family reaching to the north, the boys took the plunge and relocated their home base to Toronto. Connections were soon formed with world-renowned talents, allowing the recording process to begin on Midnight Crisis, their third album, but first Canadian-recorded work. Produced by Dominic John Davis, known for his work with Jack White, Beck and Willie Nelson, Midnight Crisis channels the rock ’n’ roll of the ’60s and ’70s and passes it through their own modern filter, creating a sound that comes across as fresh, yet familiar.”
