Billy Ray Cyrus is circling back to his roots with his new Canadian single and video Country Twisted — showcasing today on Tinnitist.
The newly minted country anthem is right in the iconic American singer-songwriter’s wheelhouse, and seems sure to inspire a line dance redux as he first did in his unforgettable 1992 hit Achy Breaky Heart.
While that track helped make Cyrus the platinum-selling, award-winning, chart-topping artist he is today, it’s hardly his only achievement. His groundbreaking 1992 debut Some Gave All went 9X platinum. He’s notched eight Top 10 singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, 17 Top 40 tracks and 36 charted singles. He’s starred in the Canadian-filmed Doc, Hannah Montana, Still the King and much more.
Last year, he perked ears again as a featured artist on a remix of Lil Nas X’s Old Town Road, a contribution which added #1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 list to his list of accolades. Cyrus made history with the collaboration when the song spent a record-breaking 19 consecutive weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100, along with the R&B / Hip Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs charts. The song also topped charts in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. It was awarded diamond certification by the RIAA for moving 10 million units in the U.S., the fastest song to be awarded diamond certification. Also thanks to the song, Cyrus won his first two Grammys for Best Pop/Duo Group Performance and Best Music Video.
