I recently joined Groover, a platform that connects artists with critics like me for a small fee. Every day or two, I post a new playlist of the latest submissions. You can find on at the lower right of every page on this site. Since some artists submit Soundcloud and YouTube links in addition or instead of Spotify tracks, I’m also including everything here. If you want to send me a track, you can click on the widget at right (just below the playlist) or just click HERE.
OhNewDawn | Winter Sleep (Live From Home)
THE BIO & PRESS RELEASE: “Bordering between the electronic “French touch” and Brit rock genres, OhNewDawn bring a new wind to shake the conventions of current pop music. Their creed is to blend together the sonic equations of mathrock and dance to bring about a new dawn. Drawing inspiration from the first albums of their major influences (Foals, Two Door Cinema Club, Bloc Party), this Frenchy trio aims to usher in a wave of British indie rock onto the shores of their native France. Their guitar game is woven together with massive and melodic bass lines. their elaborate and dynamic songs are crafted upon both dance floor rhythms and ambient sounds. Their voices stick to their instruments like shadows, while their lyrics explore the semantics of words, the meaning of concepts and human behavior, through the seasons, from dusk till dawn. Winter Sleep was written during winter 2019. This “homemade” version is recorded during this quarantine period. The song reminds the lockdown and boredom, so we thought that it would be accurate to drop that song through these hard times. We never thought this could happen when we wrote Winter Sleep last year.”
Headless Relatives | No Quarter
THE BIO & PRESS RELEASE: “No Quarter is the first single from our upcoming album Teatime With Conqueror Worm. The album concerns death, grief, and other endings, and this song tells the story of two people in an increasingly untenable relationship as they fall into patterns of passive-aggressive conflict. We’re a DIY outfit as far as production goes, so it doesn’t have a polished studio sound, but we believe that for the right audience this won’t be seen as a detriment.”
Frero 110GN (La Mixture) | Monde de Requins
THE BIO & PRESS RELEASE: “A video that resembles a short film with new and improbable images, in which we recognize international stars like the model Jeremy Meeks, Pascal Nouma, Paris Hilton, the artist Alec Monopoly, Lloyd Banks, Akon or even the boxer Floyd Mayweather parading in the Jungle of the King by Philipp Plein. The clip begins with a theme reminiscent of the music of the godfather and which immerses us directly in this very real world of sharks where money is king. Never seen in rap in France!”
Nemu | Ebano
THE BIO & PRESS RELEASE: “Nemu is an outstanding trio recording from February 1987, featuring Michel Pilz on bassclarinet, Kai Kanthak on double bass and Klaus Kugel on the drums.”

8ONP | 800 Miles
THE BIO & PRESS RELEASE: “This is my second single out of three. I am currently preparing an EP that is a little less techno and more Synthwave coldwave with some vocals featuring. Being also a director and photographer, I am quite influenced by the slightly dark and cinematic atmospheres. I particularly like the Carpenter world in the ’80s.”
QLAPs | I Wish
THE BIO & PRESS RELEASE: “These nice words were sent to us lately: “Decadent jazzy guitar work, electro sensibilities, and their delicious pop aesthetics, makes love to your senses, with awe inspiring elegance. Colorful and textured, the nostalgia is enhanced through the single’s emphatic search for the beyond, with refreshing turns shimmering notoriety. It’s a love-jam …”
