Let’s start with the women of Haim, dishing out some self-empowered California rock with their performance of The Steps on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Bonus points to bassist Este for that aggressive mid-song lipstick application. You can’t top that — but the pairing of Lake Street Dive singer Rachael Price and guitarist Vilray come pretty damn close with their mischievously zippy ditty At Your Mother’s House on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. On the funkier side of the street, bass monster Thundercat gets by with a little help from Flying Lotus, Steve Lacy and Steve Arrington during his rendition of Black Qualls on Jimmy Kimmel Live. And finally, Niall Horan kicked off his week-long residency on The Late Late Show With James Corden with the fittingly titled and reasonably catchy Nice To Meet Ya. Not into Niall?
