In my neck of the woods, early December is all about two things: 1 | Christmas music and 2 | Year-end lists. My in-box and news feeds are already jammed with both. So it’s no wonder the late-night TV music lineup is starting to shift in those directions two. On Monday, Solange tried to remind us all how good her March release When I Get Home was by performing an impressive medley of songs from he disc on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Meanwhile, recently minted Nashville superstar Kacey Chambers tried to get us in the holiday spirit by singing Christmas Makes Me Cry on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Thankfully, there are still a few act who aren’t stuck in those ruts just yet — like Puerto Rican rap and reggaeton artist Ozuna, who delivered his single Nibiru on Jimmy Kimmel Live (side note: Whoever told him it would look cool to hang a bunch of long straps from the epaulets of his jacket was wrong) and Anderson .Paak’s band Free Nationals, who enlisted their boss for their performance of Gidget (from their Dec. 13 self-titled debut album) on Fallon’s Sunday night episode. Fingers crossed they’re not too late for the year-end lists.
