It’s time to get schwifty in here. Frankly, it’s long overdue. After all, it’s been nearly five years since Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland introduced us to misanthropic mad scientist Rick (URRRRRRPP!!) Sanchez, his wussy grandson Morty and the rest of their dysfunctional family. And given the way their outrageous life-and-death adventures across time, space and dimension have taken hold with the fanboys, you might have expected this 26-track Rick and Morty Soundtrack album to land in our timeline before now. Then again, most of those fanboys have already memorized the lyrics to demented gems like Goodbye Moonmen, The Flu Hatin’ Rap, Fathers and Sons (a.k.a. Doodoo Butt) and, yes, Get Schwifty. But they might not have devoted quite as much time to the stirring instrumentals or more conventional contributions from artists like Chaos Chaos, Blonde Redhead, Mazzy Star and Belly. And they certainly haven’t heard the two brand-new oddities from Chad VanGaalen and Clipping. So open the Strawberry Smiggles, pass the Szechuan sauce and get ready to do the Rick Dance. Wubba lubba dub dub!
