Classic Valentine’s Day Album Review: Nat King Cole | The World of…

This came out in 2005 — or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

The smoky voice, the delicately caressed piano, the natty style, the suave grace — you could do worse than to take a few romantic tips from the one and only Nat King Cole. At the very least, you can display your fine taste with this new compilation.

TURN-ONS: Smile, It’s Only A Paper Moon, Nature Boy, Unforgettable, Ramblin’ Rose, L-O-V-E, Stardust, Mona Lisa and 20 more Cole classics.

TURN-OFFS: Daughter Natalie’s posthumous duet version of Unforgettable. It was wrong then; it’s wrong now.

GOES WITH: Fine cigars, cognac, velvet evening gowns and smoking jackets, thick steaks, red wine and chocolate mousse.
