leo. Is So Over His December Blues

It's definitely not the most wonderful time of the year for the U.K. singer-songwriter.

leo. had had enough of the December Blues in his new seasonal single and lyric video — showcasing today on Tinnitist.

The rising singer-songwriter — whose musical roots span Portugal and the U.K. — offers a poignant yet comforting ballad capturing the melancholy and warmth of winter love for his latest release. Drawing on the influence of acoustic singer-songwriter styles, indie charm, and vintage musical aesthetics, December Blues gives listeners a timeless, intimate reflection on how love can brighten even the coldest days.

“Growing up in Portugal, winter was always mild,” he says. “Moving to the U.K., I experienced a whole new level of winter cold, and I began to understand what people meant by ‘December blues.’ This song became an expression of how love and connection can be a remedy for that winter loneliness.” The collaboration with Chevy, an artist leo. has admired for years, adds depth and authenticity to the track, creating a heartfelt duet that brings the song’s warmth to life.

December Blues features lush, live strings arranged by Alistair Kerley and a beautifully executed jazz piano by Nico Widdowson, giving the song a vintage, jazzy holiday feel. The track was produced and mixed by Ed Allen, leo.‘s longtime collaborator, known for his work in blending modern and classic sounds. With influences ranging from mid-century Christmas classics to contemporary artists like Laufey, leo. achieves a nostalgic yet fresh sound that fans are sure to find both comforting and evocative.

Emerging from rigorous classical training, leo. recorded his first single in 2018 from his bedroom in Portugal. It laid the foundations for his sound, drawing on earlier inspirations like Dodie, Cavetown and Ricky Montgomery. In 2019, he was part of the single Despair, which amassed 43 million streams. Following the release of Drink My Soul in 2021 and Letters From Dreamland in 2022, leo. released his first full album A New One in 2023, including the song Irreplaceable You, which has become an anthem of self-acceptance.
