Classic Anthology Review: The Verve | This is Music

This came out in 2004 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

The Verve — the late, great neo-psychedelic Britrock outfit fronted by Richard Ashcroft finally get treated to a long-overdue retrospective.

Songs: 14.

Actual Hits: Bittersweet Symphony was the breakthrough, but cuts like Blue, This is Music and Gravity Grave are just as good.

Missing In Action: An explanation of why it took seven years to put out this set.

Extras! Extras! Two strong shoegazer outtakes from their 1997 swan song Urban Hymns.
