This came out in 1999 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):
On this final disc before her self-imposed (and, in these parts, hotly anticipated) sabbatical from the music biz, megastar chanteuse Celine Dion divides her time between looking back on her career and giving her fans something to tide them over while she’s away.
First are the hits — nine of her biggest tunes, including The Power Of Love, Beauty And The Beast and an obscure ditty called My Heart Will Go On, apparently from some long-forgotten arthouse movie about a cruise ship. Not surprisingly, Dion’s style goes on much the same way in the seven new tracks, most of which are ballads that follow her whisper-to-a-chest-pounding-bellow template ad nauseam. Still, the only real clunker is the pointless title cut, with Celine dueting with Frank Sinatra from beyond the grave. With that, she leaves us wanting less.
