Classic Album Review: Amy Farris | Anyway

The Austin fiddler steps off the sidelines & into the spotlight with an eclectic debut.

This came out in 2004 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

Austin fiddler and singer Amy Farris has played sidekick to everyone from Alejandro Escovedo and Kelly Willis to Ray Price. Her favourite bands are supposedly The Beatles and X. And she recruited roots-rock vet Dave Alvin to produce her endearingly eclectic debut solo disc, which offers strong roots-pop originals and a cover of X’s Poor Girl. Not too shabby, any way you slice it.
