Crack of Dawn are looking for the key to your heart in their funky new single and video Gotta Find A Way — showcasing today on Tinnitist.
Featuring the velvety funk tones that have made them Canada’s most celebrated soul act for 40 years and running, this latest delivery from Crack of Dawn teems with the finely tuned craftsmanship that has long been the group’s sonic signature. Co-written by lead vocalist Michael Dunston and producer Dennis Nieves, the song boasts an irresistible get-down groove, percolating percussion, slicing guitars and brash brass, all joining forces to build a rock-solid wall of funk.
Crack of Dawn were the first black band to be signed to a major label, after being discovered by Otis Redding’s producer. Their most recent album Spotlight features a breathtaking combination of grinding funk a la Booby Ruby, guitar and horn-led sunshine soul thanks to the eponymous Crack of Dawn, the wah-wah drenched glory of Somebody’s Watching You, and their hugely popular single Ol’ Skool.
