Classic Album Review: Clinic | Winchester Cathedral

The U.K. enigmas continue to seduce music geeks while confusing everybody else.

This came out in 2004 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

Start with the artful alienation of Radiohead.

Cut it with the bleep-bloop Dadaism of The Residents and the haunting melodies of Ennio Morricone. Now dress it up in green hospital scrubs and hide it behind surgical masks and you have Liverpool’s enigmatic Clinic and their equally enigmatic third CD Winchester Cathedral, their latest disc guaranteed to seduce music geeks while leaving everybody else scratching their heads.
