Classic Album Review: Reveille | Laced

The teenage demons deliver an impressive wakeup call with their debut album.

This came out in 1999 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

It rhymes with ‘heavily’ — and that’s probably no coincidence.

Heavily is precisely how these teenage demons play their thunderous, screeching brand of rap-metal. Actually, make that metal-rap; the whump and grind of this debut disc skew a lot closer to Rage Against The Machine’s sonic fury than it does to Limp Bizkit’s B-boy posturing. Whether this is just a passing case of teen angst remains to be seen, but for now, Reveille provide a pretty impressive wakeup call.
