Jimmy & The Veil pulls back the curtain and introduces himself with his darkly glimmering debut single Diamonds — showcasing today on Tinnitist.
A song about exploring the darker feelings battling inside, the track highlights alternative and punk influences, with lyrics that convey a more profound narrative.
Jimmy & The Veil, the persona of James Wright, takes listeners into the struggles he had with the dichotomy of his existence. Diamonds opens up with a classic rock intro, building into a pulled-back first verse focused on the lead vocals. The high-energy chorus is escalated by strong electric guitar riffs and a heavy drum beat. Produced by Will Beasley (Turnstile, Asking Alexandria) at The Bakery Recording, the song illustrates a dim time in Wright’s life and explores the difficult emotions he dealt with.
“I was in the darkest place that I have ever been in personally. Diamonds was me exploring the darker feelings I was battling in that season,” he reveals. “My everyday life was filled with the pressure of presentation, so much so that it oppressed my innate passion to be a genuine, unapologetic artist. The artist in me was crying out, and the studio therapy that emerged with it awakened this entire project. I felt every word of this project, and my hope is that listeners feel it too.”
Wright’s musical journey began in high school as a lyricist, continuing to college, where he began playing the guitar. While music has always been integral to his life, it was in adulthood that he decided to fully commit to it. He joined various bands before founding Jimmy & The Veil in the summer of 2023. Influenced by artists like Kurt Travis, Moxy the Band and Jimmy Eat World, Wright aims to create therapeutic music that addresses themes of imposter syndrome and life’s challenges, offering solace to himself and those who connect with his work.
Diamonds offers listeners a taste of what Jimmy & The Veil is all about — eclectic instrumental influences and deep emotional vocals. The song invites listeners to contemplate their personal hardships, fostering a feeling of closeness and openness.
