Classic Album Review: Triumph the Insult Comic Dog | Come Poop With Me

The cigar-chomping pooch-puppet has his day with this set of pranks & dirty jokes.

This came out in 2003 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

If you’ve watched enough Conan O’Brien over the years, you probably already know cigar-chomping, scatological pooch-puppet Triumph The Insult Comic Dog, the creation of veteran comedian and writer Robert Smigel.

And if you’ve heard enough comedy albums over the years, you probably already know that Triumph’s debut disc Come Poop With Me — a collection of canine-themed prank calls, filthy songs and B-level celebrity abuse from the doggie Don Rickles — is going to have the same effect as every other comedy record: This first time you listen, it will make you laugh out loud. The second time it will make you chuckle. And the third time it will put you to sleep — and make you wish somebody had done the same to Triumph.
