Weekend Mixtape | More Than 200 Songs To Keep You Going (Side 11)

Like you, I was saddened to learn that Tony Bennett has died. I’ve written elsewhere about interviewing him in person in New York City to promote his 90th birthday celebration at Radio City Music Hall in 2016. That was before his family revealed he had dementia, but I had relatives with Alzheimer’s, so I knew the score as soon as I started talking to him. But like the trouper he was, he gamely held up his end of the conversation, relying on the same muscle memory that got him through his shows in those last years (including that Radio City gala). But however diminished he was in his final days, it should go without saying that nothing can erase the incredible amount of timeless music he released over the decades. RIP, Tony. On a happier note, here’s your weekend lineup of 200 new singles, videos, cover tunes, remixes, golden oldies, unburied treasures and live performances — most of which you won’t find anywhere else.
