Edzi’u fights the good fight with their inspired, innovative and immersive new single Warrior Song — premiering exclusively on Tinnitist.

A preview of the Indigenous singer-songwriter’s upcoming album Potlatch In The Box — due June 9  Warrior Song unveils an artful and ambitious fusion of sonics and style. As a meditative beat and ambient synths slowly drift past, spoken-word samples alternate with Edzi’u’s soaring, sublime vocals to create a multi-dimensional, multi-faceted work that is simultaneously cinematic and anthemic, thought-provoking and compelling, topical and timeless.

Edzi’u is a Tahltan and Tlingit artist based in Vancouver on the unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations. A groundbreaking songwriter and composer who paints stories of the past, present and future with textures, elders stories and words, and ethereal vocals, Edzi’u’s work is rich in culture, full of passion and spirit.

Possessing a style and sound like no other, Edzi’u is a quiet icon in the landscape of Indigenous music on Turtle Island. The power behind their use of sound goes deep within the listener, inspiring them to be bold and genuine, while living fully within their hearts.

Their music and sound installations have graced CBC Radio Reclaimed, the Talking Stick festival, Tkaronto’s imagineNATIVE film festivals in 2018 and 2019, and debuted internationally in 2019 at the Document Film Festival in Glasgow.
