Now Hear This: Harry Cloud | The Cyst

Strange but true: The eccentric singer-songwriter's shapeshifting sounds don't really resemble anything that passes for pop music — but they'll grow on you nonetheless.

THE EDITED PRESS RELEASE: “The world of Harry Cloud is a strange place occupied by forbidden videos and music that leapfrogs stylistically from genre to genre without ever staying in any one spot long enough to catch your balance. Combine the mystery of The Residents, the backwoods sidesteps of The Mountain Goats, the psych-rock of Thee Oh Sees, the over-the-top thunder of Mr. Bungle … and you’re still not really prepared for The Cyst.

Produced by Paul Roessler (Nina Hagen, TSOL, Josie Cotton) at Kitten Robot Studio, The Cyst will transport the listener into the dimly lit netherworld of Cloud’s brain. Fans of modern prog, psych/garage alternative American and alternative metal will be intrigued.

Cloud hails from Midland, Georgia. He began writing and recording music as a teenager. In his 20s, through the help of Myspace, he befriended a group of artists in the more cultured Atlanta, moved up there and began performing in the experimental/noise scene of the city under the name A Butterfly-Eaten Horsehead and later Single Mothers.

In 2010 he moved to Los Angeles, where he met Roessler. With Roessler’s help, Cloud was able to move his music from small bedroom recordings to big high-production sounds. With the unlimited possibilities that recording with Roessler provides, Cloud has been able to record 16 albums and EPs so far — both solo and with other projects such as Fannyland, Orphan Goggles, COPS and Harry Cloud/Paul Roessler.”
