March 19 marks the 41st anniversary of one of rock’s most infamous tragedies: The death of Randy Rhoads. The Ozzy Osbourne guitarist and former Quiet Riot member was killed in 1982 when the small plane he was riding in crashed while buzzing the band’s tour bus. Anyone who saw him live — as I did on Ozzy’s Blizzard Of Ozz tour in the summer of 1981 — can attest to his otherworldly abilities.
