Classic Album Review: AC/DC | Live: 2 CD Collector’s Edition

The lads crank out another greatest-hits album with crowd noise.

This came out in 2003 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

Warner’s loss is a metal fan’s gain. When Australian riff-rock legends AC/DC recently signed a deal with Sony, they took their catalog along. Over the coming months, most of it is getting refurbished and re-released. Here’s the first batch. For those about to rock, we salute them.

AC/DC
Live: 2 CD Collector’s Edition

FIRST RELEASED: 1992.

HIGHLIGHTS: Like most live albums, this is a greatest-hits CD with crowd noise, as the lads plow through nearly two dozen career highlights — early gems like Sin City, Let There Be Rock, Whole Lotta Rose and Jailbreak, along with later fare like Thunderstruck, Moneytalks, Who Made Who and Heatseeker. As live albums go, it’s OK — though 1978’s If You Want Blood You’ve Got It (due shortly) is superior.

EXTRAS! EXTRAS! A double-gatefold sleeve that opens to show the band’s stadium-sized stage.
