Albums Of The Week: King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard | Live At Red Rocks ’22

Got nine hours to kill? The Australian psych-rockers' new live box will fill it up nicely.

King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard have done it again.

A couple of days back, the Australian psych-rock warriors dropped the latest in their endless series of live recordings: A massive compilation of three epic performances recorded last fall at Colorado’s iconic Red Rocks amphitheatre. The trio of shows in October and November were all marathon sets, meaning you get more than eight hours of live recordings — with no songs repeated. How many bands could pull that off? And how many bands would allow anyone to download and release the concerts (along with artwork) for free — as long as they send some of the copies to the band to sell on their website — as KG regularly do via their Bootlegger program. I’ve said it before. I’m saying it again: For my money, King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard are the greatest band in the world right now. And albums like this are why.
