Classic Album Review: Gob | F.U. EP

This compilation EP offers a crash course in the Vancouver outfit’s crass-pop sound.

This came out in 2002 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

More like Deja F.U.

For those coming late to the Gob party, this compilation EP offers a crash course in the Vancouver outfit’s crass-pop sound. Of the nine tracks, five are from their last two albums, while four are new. Not that you could tell the difference — from their buzzsaw guitars and galloping beats to their snotty vocals, dumbass lyrics (“My friend Ming Tran will kick you right in the face”) and song titles like Sick With You, these guys are still just a bunch of arrested — if not espcially arresting — adolescents.
