Classic DVD Review: Ozzy Osbourne | Ozzy O: Double O Unauthorized

This unauthorized doc is almost as unintentionally hilarious as an Osbournes episode.

This came out in 2002 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

You think Behind The Music is a tasteless cheesefest? You ain’t seen nothing.

This “unauthorized” quickie documentary on prince of darkness Ozzy Osbourne is so ridiculously amateurish it’s almost as unintentionally hilarious as an Osbournes episode. The video is cobbled together from old interview clips, unrelated concert footage, tributes from fans and a bunch of photographs — most of which get repeated over and over like a bad acid flashback to pad this sucker out to 42 minutes. The audio includes no music from Ozzy or Black Sabbath — just a smarmy announcer reading a badly written, uninformative script peppered with lines like, “Sharon and Ozzy’s marriage … is a union you can take to the bank!” The best/worst moment? In one shot where you see a pair of hands playing guitar, you can also clearly see that the guy has O-Z-Z-Y written on his knuckles in felt pen, copying Osbourne’s famous tattoo. Unauthorized? More like un-f*%#@ing-believable.
