Kim Thompson Ambles Up And Playfully Says Hey Cowboy

The Calgary country singer tips her hat to the wranglers with her flirty new single.

Kim Thompson promises to wrangle your heart with her sweetly swinging new single and video Hey Cowboy — showcasing today on Tinnitist.

The Calgary singer-songwriter’s seventh single is a flirty ditty, sashaying like a winning number from the saloon jukebox. The song is upbeat and lighthearted, with Thompson’s sassy vocal wrapped like a lasso around the melody.

Hey Cowboy is a song about the movies and production, written when I was working on set for the TV series Heartland with the horses and cowboy wranglers, riding and roping,” says Thompson. “It speaks about simple cowboy spirit behind the scenes. I always liked to talk to the cowboys and hear the stories about movie work. The fantasy of movies we have painted with the cowboys and cowgirls as heros and cool folk. The importance is to recognize the dream of living the cowfolk life in the movies and so many characters.”

Co-written by Thompson and Chard Morrison, Hey Cowboy was produced by Chris Birkett in Ontario. It follows Thompson’s previous singles Heartache Heartbreak, This Christmas, Thinkin’ Bout and Game Of Love — which she describes as “energetic love empowerment for all ages.”

Alberta native Thompson is a trifecta of talent. She’s a singer and songwriter with credits in commercials, film and TV shows including Heartland and the Oscar-winning Brokeback Mountain. In addition to her work on screen, Thompson is routinely found onstage in Calgary, and heard on country stations. Her accolades include awards or nominations from CCMA, Country Music Alberta, YCC Awards and ACMA. Thompson also sings O Canada while riding at Canadian Pro Rodeo and JHL games.
