Joanna Pearl Visits Chicago With The Mermaid (Sereia Do Mar)

The California singer-songwriter drops in on the jazz-rockers' 38th studio album.

Joanna Pearl is making waves with her cameo on Chicago’s latest single The Mermaid (Sereia Do Mar) — showcasing today on Tinnitist.

The newest highlight from the veteran jazz-rock outfit and Rock And Roll Hall Of Famers’ 38th studio album Born For This Moment, this bossa nova about a shipwrecked sailor saved by a siren of the deep features some suitably sweet, flowing background vocals from California singer-songwriter Pearl.

It’s not the up-and-coming Temecula vocalist’s only brush with greatness. Pearl has also performed with former Free bassist and songwriter Andy Fraser, and co-wrote the hit holiday single I Want U On Christmas, recorded by Guinness World Record-holding Canadian pop singer Capri Everitt. Pearl also sings with the 10-piece soul-funk show band SoulCal, whose horn-bolstered sound draws on a lengthy list of classic outfits like Tower of Power, Average White Band and (yes) Chicago.
