Human Pattern is an unusual take on the saxophone: dark, repetitive and minimalist. “I want break the codes and place the saxophone in an original way in a techno minimal universe,” he says. “All the sounds of my tracks are produced only with a saxophone.”

Following up their project Bloom, the French-British trio based in Paris come back right on time for spring, with synths and its vaporous guitars. Between frantic rhythms and soaring melodies, Silk Skin Lovers depict a nocturnal universe where the energy of drunkenness mixes with the melancholy of a late night. Through a music influenced by the aesthetics of New Wave, the young musicians deploy a nostalgic surrealism. Forever is a ballad, a haunting slow song that naturally invites the listener to daydream. In a polar twilight with pastel shades, brightly colored patches of melancholy, euphoria, and happiness shake, somewhere between Beach House, Her’s and The Smiths.”

Greatly influenced by American rap (’90s and current), my sound is a crossover between Notorious B.I.G. and Anderson .Paak, on productions where Niska would be comfortable. Echoue Et Recommence (Fail And Start Again) is an introspective piece combining acoustic and electronic sounds, accompanied by a powerful drunk beat, dressed in a flow that is both sung and rapped.” Produced, written and mixed by Rut, the song lays bare and reveals an artist full of flaws and inhabited by doubt despite an unequaled motivation. Adrien Bocksruth | Jade

HOME BASE: Belgium.
GENRE: Neo-Classical.
THE EDITED BIO & PRESS RELEASE: “While piano has always had a place in my life, I can’t say the same about its practice. I was only a student at the conservatory from 10 to 12; the strict codes of the institution put me off and drove me away from the music world, stopping me from pursuing this experience. It is only in 2020, after a 10-year break, that I decided to get back to practising this instrument of infinite sounds — this time in my own way and with my own rules. I’m not a pianist like the others; I’m just a random guy who shares what comes to my mind. Here is the last song from my first album Precious, where every song represents a gemstone with their colour and their own features. Here is Jade, a calm and peaceful song.”

She has been a resident pianist of the Ritz Paris, Hotel George V and Harry’s American Bar. Her upcoming album Earth reveals her talent as a composer. The Falling is a piano solo piece. It’s like an evocation of this endless fall that is the passage of a human being on earth. Rhythmic, lyrical, and frantic, it is undoubtedly the piece closest to a jazz aesthetic on my album. The melody, inconsolable and heroic at the same time, makes us slip into this endless chromaticism.”

Her music is getting more experimental, but she insists that she “couldn’t even try” to define it, saying, “What I hear in my dream thought bubble is different than what you hear. And I certainly wouldn’t want to burst your bubble.” This conceptual drum and bass Radiostar Remix of her recent single Like It’s The Last Time offers a chill, fresh take.”

Russell Joslin | Streetfight

Ushering in a fuller new sound and career direction, Streetfight is a troubling look at the often-lawless nature of London in the early hours, and its effects on the city’s night workers. How does an exhausted Uber driver or a jaded late-night office worker process the alcohol/drug-fuelled atmosphere they see on their way home to their beds or at the start of an endless graveyard shift?”

James was born in Milwaukee but spent her formative years in the Southwest. This desert Americana flavour influences all of her songs, allowing her style to be both unique and eclectic.
