Mental Fracture expand your mind with their thought-provoking prog-metal debut album Disaccord — showcasing today on Tinnitist.
Fans of artists like Opeth, Leprous, Rush and Tool should find much to unwrap in this collection that showcases the Italiian foursome’s technical wizardry and wanton experimentation. The album’s high-minded lyrics and themes, coupled with the band’s undeniable passion for composition, make this one of 2022’s must-hear progressive rock / metal albums.
The band’s first full-length, Disaccord’s nine tracks tackle themes revolving around cognitive dissonance and the games we play with ourselves to cope with it. The songs in the album vary constantly and change their genre, gliding through jazz, oriental music and synth, yet always staying centered around fierce, energetic prog-rock and metal.
Mental Fracture draw inspiration from contemporary prog acts like Dream Theater and Porcupine Tree, as well as prog classics such as Camel, King Crimson and more. The members of the band wear their influences on their sleeves, playing complex, energetic, and heavy music, never afraid to incorporate a new, different kind of weirdness in their music.
The band released their debut EP The Mind’s Desire in February 2019. Recorded and produced independently, its five songs dealt with the concept of creation, and the mind wanting to break free so that it may leave an everlasting mark on this world.
