Chefbeatz and Kelly Besd discover that two heads are better on their new EP Find More Love — showcasing today on Tinnitist.
Romantic and groovy, the three-track release — which features the songs Find, More and Love, which combine to give the disc its title — presents listeners with a heartfelt story of triumph over the complications that arise when trying to swoon a partner.
Based in Calgary, Chefbeatz is a West African-born producer who has found a niche in the Canadian music scene with his production style. Coupling his African roots with western sounds like hip-hop, R&B, and pop, Chefbeatz pushes the boundaries of production as a storyteller who explores depth and movement. But his recipe is not complete without spice — so he has fused his unique AfroSwing style with Kelly Besd’s knack for well-crafted pop music. Other artists on the EP include Jey Oh, whose alluring R&B vocals really drive the romantic theme, and sax player Slim Tyme, who weaves sultry riffs throughout Love, adding the extra flair this production was after. The result: An alluring combination of Afro beats mixed into hip-hop and jazz tropes, highlighting the challenges and rewards of seeking love.
