Now Hear This: Now Hear This: Arkells | Blink Once

The Hamilton pop-rockers spread their wings while spreading joy on their sixth LP.

THE EDITED PRESS RELEASE: “Canadian pop-rockers Arkells have just released Blink Once, their sixth studio album and the follwup to 2018’s Rally Cry.

Blink Once is about resilience. It’s about grieving with loss and fallouts and finding your way back,” says frontman Max Kerman. “The making of the album began before the pandemic, but the material seems to hit harder after everything we’ve been through over the past 18 months. These songs are about finding comfort in your family, community and music … Now more than ever, it seems our lives can change in the blink of an eye. Everyday you wake up and you think you know a lot of stuff, then it turns out you don’t.”

Blink Once, a bi-coastal project which was recorded in L.A. and completed in Toronto, includes current hit single, You Can Get It featuring K.Flay, which has charted in the top spot at Canadian Alternative Radio for four weeks and is their fifth No. 1 at the format. Blink Once also includes chart-topping Years In The Making, One Thing I Know and Swing Swing Swing, as well as All Roads, which serves as the soundtrack to #TogetherAgain, a national vaccine awareness PSA to combat vaccine hesitancy.

The new album comes shortly after Arkells’ triumphant return to live music, three once-in-a-return-from-pandemic history-making nights at Toronto’s Budweiser Stage in August. Previously announced as a two-night affair, a third show was added to meet the overwhelming demand and enthusiasm for a return to live music this summer, as the band played to a cumulative 30,000 fans. New tour dates to be announced in the following weeks as Arkells return to play across Canada and abroad.”
