Callahan & The Woodpile cycle through the final moments of a fading romance in their beautifully bittersweet single and video With The Sun — premiering exclusively on Tinnitist.
A taste of the Montreal group’s upcoming debut album Burning Each Light, the spry indie-folk confection mixes breezily chiming guitars, tasteful soloing and tender vocals with poetically evocative lyrics about a one-sided love affair that has moved into its twilight phase — completely unlike the group itself.
Fronted by singer-songwriter and former solo artist Callahan Ioannou, The Woodpile are only making their formal introduction now, but most of group — which includes guitarlst Adrian Buccella, bassist Matt McCormack, pianist Marco Petrella and drummer Bill Kervin — have been together for the better part of a decade. After touring with them for his first album Where Are You Going in 2018, Ioannou began writing new material with the band in mind. Everything felt richer, louder, and more lush with them behind him; and though still true to his Indie-folk roots, Callahan felt ready to bring The Woodpile into the world.
Their coming-out party officially kicks off in November with the release of Burning Each Light. The 10-track album weaves together everything from lapsteel-laced alt-country to heavy-hitting indie rock with ease, balancing shoutable choruses against thoughtful lyrics and infectious hooks.
