This came out in 2001 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):
Another month, another Snoop Dogg side project.
Another Snoop Dogg side project, another 80 minutes of P-Funkified grooves, gangsta-boogie beats, blunt-stoked rhymes and endless guest appearances from practically everyone Snoop has ever met in his entire life — except Dr. Dre, the only person you really want to hear on a Snoop Dogg album. Ultimately, Duces ’N Trayz is another piece of evidence that Snoop is, pound for pound, perhaps the most distinctive rhymer on the scene — but he really, really needs to put down the bong long enough to make an album worthy of his name. Until then, he’s just dogging it.
