Christo Graham rewinds precious childhood memories in his sweetly nostalgic new single and video Front Porch — premiering exclusively on Tinnitist.
The first single from the multi-talented artist’s upcoming eighth album Graham’s General Store, Front Porch was written in early 2020 as part of a reunion by Graham’s family band, featuring siblings Leigh (guitar and keyboards), Carey (bass), Theo (drums and violin), Christo (guitar) and Theresa (keyboards). The sweetly sincere cut was inspired by their family life and ancestral store in Bishop’s Mills Ont. Thrumming with alt-roots and Americana warmth, the music also reflects much of the influences that informed Graham’s musical education, with nods to The Beatles, Dolly Parton and Lyle Lovett.
Rehearsed and recorded together at Christo’s home in Lansdowne, Ont., the entire album serves as a time capsule filled with precious recollections that only come with being born, raised and homeschooled together in a house in the woods a kilometre from the nearest neighbour. It was these memories and moments that both inspired and were culminated in Graham’s General Store, which was presented to their parents as a surprise for their 43rd wedding anniversary.
A musician, actor, and graphic designer, Graham has recorded and released seven self-produced albums (his latest being Turnin’) and performed across Canada. He composed, produced and performed the music and voice for Margaret Atwood’s Angel Catbird, and earned a META nomination for his performance of Jerry Lee Lewis in Million Dollar Quartet.
