Donita Large Is Going To Walk That Line

The Indigenous singer-songwriter from Alberta balanced blues, country & gospel.

Donita Large steps out on her latest single Going To Walk That Line — showcasing today on Tinnitist.

An emotionally charged song for those finding strength to put one foot in front of the other, Going To Walk That Line finds the Indigenous singer-songwriter from Alberta balancing blues, country and gospel — an apt reflection of the musical line she has walked in life.

Growing up surrounded by Métis, country, and gospel music, Large started singing at funerals and weddings early on. Learning how music could be a powerful tool in healing hearts, she decided it was time to branch out. “I want to share my music, and belt my heart out,” she says. With Going To Walk That Line, Donita wanted to deliver an inspirational message for women. “I wanted to say ‘get it done’ and ‘I hope you know your worth.’ It speaks to women’s tenacity of overcoming painful relationships and deciding what line they want to walk.”

To create the track, she reached out to multi-talented singer-songwriter Cindy Paul, who engineered and produced the track. Paul called on accomplished guitarist Gord Matthews. In the end, Paul’s award-winning talents, combined with Matthews’ skills as a slide guitarist, left Donita in great hands. After session drummer Jaime Cooper added fills and background percussion, Winnipeg rapper and producer Osani Balkaran did the final mixing and mastering.
