Yesterday, punk provocateur Laura Jane Grace sent out a cryptic note saying she was about to announce a one-of-a-kind show. She wasn’t kidding.
Today, the singer-guitarist made good on her threat by revealing that on Aug. 21, she and Brendan Kelly of The Lawrence Arms are going to play outside Four Seasons Total Landscaping in Philadelphia, which you may remembers as the hilariously infamous site of Rudy Giuliani’s disastrous post-election press conference. “This will be the first and last time Brendan and I will play in front of a landscaping company and we promise it will be better than that MAGA shit show,” Grace said in a press release. I have no doubt. And I’m not alone. Join world’s greatest publicist (and fellow Grace fan) Eric Alper and I on today’s episode of Sonic Reducers, where we chat about what Laura Jane’s press release called her “most celebrated appearance of the year,” express our love and admiration for all things Laura Jane and cross our fingers that somebody is videotaping this historic event. Sonic Reducers: One topic. Two music nerds. Five minutes. Everything you need to know.
