I don’t know how many Beatles documentaries have been made over the decades, but I know this: People never get tired of them. Thankfully, it also seems that filmmakers never run out of previously unseen footage to cobble into new ones.
Today brings news of yet another one: The Beatles And India, a historical chronicle of the band’s relationship to the country, presumably including their less-than-deal trip to study Transcendental Meditation at the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi’s ashram in 1968. It’s a big topic — but publicist supreme (and dedicated Beatles fan) Eric Alper and I will tackle it (and Peter Jackson’s upcoming Get Back doc) in just five minutes in today’s instalment of Sonic Reducers. Join us as we discuss what happened to their chakras, what Ringo thought of the food and what John said to the Maharishi — not to mention something I say that’s going to get both Eric and I killed. Sonic Reducers: One topic. Two music nerds. Five minutes. And everything you need to know today.
