Late-Night TV Music (Easing Back Into It Edition) | April 5, 2021

After a week-long hiatus, the chat shows take it slow and steady.

And we’re back. After a week-long hiatus for Easter / Spring Break / March Madness / whatnot, the late-night talk shows returned to active duty on Monday. And naturally, they brought music back with them. But like anyone getting down to work again following a relaxing week off, they’re easing into it nice and slow with a trio of basic offerings.

Scottish rock trio The Fratellis went retro for their black-and-white performance of the string-sweetened and Motown-inspired Need A Little Love on The Late Late Show With James Corden. American rockers All Time Low took it up a notch with their rendition of Monsters on Jimmy Kimmel Live. And Lil Tjay pulled out the purple for his presentation of Calling My Phone (featuring 6lack) on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. And there you have it. No big surprises. No heavy lifting. Nothing you can’t handle. And just like that, your holiday is over. Welcome back. And condolences.
