THE EDITED PRESS RELEASE: “Craig Scott’s Lobotomy is a solo recording project focusing on the uncomfortable junction of human and machine creation and execution. A Frankenstein’s monster scaling the uncanny valley, blurring the lines between the natural and the mechanized. Live recordings are pulled apart, transformed by home-made noise producing / altering paraphernalia and then intricately re-constructed with digital audio software. The debut album War is a Racket was released in 2015. The following four years were spent designing and building microphones and analog/digital post production equipment to facilitate the recording and production process of the new album I am Revolting. It is a genre-defying allegory of our navigation of the digital age — as the lines between physical selves and digital anima become blurred & consensus reality crumbles as our individual reality tunnels and ideologies become increasingly radicalized. Within this uncomfortable junction of human and machine, live recordings of acoustic instruments and field recordings are pulled apart and transformed by Scott’s unique palette of homemade digital and analog technology before being reborn into new forms. The album is only 30 mins long but its at least four hours wide.”
