Sammy Jackson takes a trip With You on her sophomore EP and its title track — showcasing today on Tinnitist.
“With You explores themes of vulnerability, broken relationships, and love,” the St. Catharines jazz/R&B singer-songwriter shares. “The song was inspired by the many road trips my husband and I have taken in Canada, the most memorable being our cross-country trip from Toronto to Vancouver where we marvelled at some of Canada’s finest landscapes, monuments, cities and parks. With You symbolizes the overall journey in a relationship and the changes you encounter. Much like a road trip, you often face detours and setbacks, but the destination is worth it.”
The five-track With You follows her 2016 debut Take Me Back and this year’s single Past Tense. Features all-original compositions encapsulating her distinct fusion of genres and thoughtful lyricism, the EP features collaborations with vocalist and songwriter Jacqueline Teh, guitarist Tom Fleming, pianist Chris Pruden, bassist Mark Godfrey and drummer Ian Wright.
