Late-Night TV Music | Sept. 29, 2020

Phoebe, Brittany, PE and BTS are all far more organized than I am these days.

I can’t believe it’s Wednesday already. And that I am so far behind. It’s reached the point where I’ve got so much to do I hardly know where to start — which only makes it harder to get anything done. Which just puts me further behind. But enough about me.

Thankfully, other people in this world seem to be better organized. Like, for instance, some of the acts on Tuesday’s Late-Night TV Music roster. Start with the eternally cool Phoebe Bridgers, who clearly put a lot of thought and effort into her performance of I Know The End for Late Night With Seth Meyers. Hell, she even ditched her ever-present skeleton togs for a new outfit). Then there’s BTS, who delivered an elaborately staged (and vaguely creepy, at least to me) version of Home for the latest instalment of their week-long residency on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Even Public Enemy went to the trouble of rounding up Cypress Hill and George Clinton (or at least someone pretending to be Clinton) to help them deliver the title cut from their so-so recent album Grid on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. And while Brittany Howard took the simple, get-on-stage-and-play-with-your-band route for her rendition of Baby on The Late Late Show With James Corden, you can argue with the soulfully satisfying results. Well, there’s one thing off my list.
