Late-Night TV Music (Beginnings & Endings Edition) | Sept. 10, 2020

Ladies' Night starts with Sheryl, Joan and Miley — and ends with John Legend.

Another week is mercifully coming to an end. So it only seems right to start this Friday’s Late-Night TV Music roundup with Sheryl Crow’s new single In The End, which she debuted on Late Night With Seth Meyers.

But Thursday’s female-centric lineup doesn’t end there. The Late Late Show With James Corden hosted Joan Jett, who covered the T. Rex classic Jeepster from the recent AngelHeaded Hipster tribute disc. The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon welcomed a discotastic Miley Cyrus for two songs — her own Midnight Sky and Hall & Oates’ classic Maneater. And The Late Show With Stephen Colbert’s YouTube page, which continues to post clips even while the show is on hiatus, shared Tash Sultana’s DIY version of Beyond The Pine. As always, there’s one guy who didn’t get the memo — and today that guy is John Legend, the sole dude in the Ladies’ Night lineup, singing Wild from his balcony while guest-hosting Jimmy Kimmel Live. That seems as good a place as any to wrap things up. See you next week.
