Ramshackle Rodeo Deliver Timely Dystopian Crescendo On Mad Dog 2020 EP

The Irish electro-rock duo return with a followup to their Back From The East EP.

Ramshackle Rodeo return with another dose of electro-rock swagger on their Mad Dog 2020 EP — showcasing today on Tinnitist.

A driving followup to 2019’s breakthrough debut Back from the East, Mad Dog 2020 finds the Irish duo of Stephen Cassidy and producer Nial O’Doherty once again rendering an inimitable sonic soundscape within stellar tracks like the smouldering, groove-laden opener City Strut.

“We revel in classic sounds with a contemporary ear,” O’Doherty says of the track’s scorched riffs and blistered drums. Meanwhile, the title track uses flaming harmonics to fill the jet streams left by overdriven guitar, while Lockdown Jam showcases the duo’s loose, dangerously cool prowess. Deft keys and subtle brushes tip toe over each other in Imperfect, while Halfway to Nowhere sees the band go full Saturday night as the moody floor-filler beguiles with shoe gaze gone wild. “It’s like a dystopian crescendo,” Cassidy says. “Just like 2020.”
