Black Pumas and Ethan Grusky deliver the latest musical two-fer.

I just read that The Late Show With Stephen Colbert and The Late Late Show With James Corden will resume broadcasting from their respective studios next week. Frankly, I’m surprised it took them this long — once The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon returned to 30 Rock, I expected the rest would follow suit almost immediately. Now they just have to chase Seth Meyers out of his in-law’s spare room (or wherever it is he shoots these days). Anyway, based on the fact that Fallon has yet to book any in-studio performances, I doubt Colbert and Corden’s moves will change the late-night music landscape much in the short term — aside from the fact that there might be three performances nightly with Corden back on the air, instead of this week’s nightly two-fer. Wednesday’s pairing: The Black Pumas performing a suitably smokin’ version of Fire for The Tonight Show, and singer-songwriter Ethan Gruska and his band politely delivering the sax-flecked folk-rock gem On The Outside on Colbert’s YouTube page. Enjoy.
