Variety Tops Today’s Album Announcements

Ray LaMontagne, Lawrence Arms, Gang of Four and more add their names to the list.

There weren’t a ton of new releases announced today — but there were a surprising number of contenders for top dog. Ultimately, it all comes down to personal preference. If you’re a fan of stellar songwriting, Ray LaMontagne’s Monovision should be up your alley. If you prefer first-class American pop-punk, The Lawrence ArmsSkeleton Coast could be essential. If British post-punk is more your thing, Gang of Four’s Anti Hero EP will top your list. If Cat StevensTea For The Tillerman is a desert-island disc, his upcoming remake ought to do it for you. Toss in reissues from PJ Harvey and Albert Ayler, a soundtrack from sax colossus Colin Stetson and a few other odds and sods and it’s a pretty solid lineup. Scroll down to see them all, and don’t forget to bookmark the Upcoming Releases page to keep track of all the titles on the way.
