Caardia make tracks out of a toxic relationship in their single and video Walking Away — premiering exclusively on Tinnitist.
The latest track from their debut EP The Deep End, Walking Away finds singer-songwriter sisters Annie and Celia Siriopoulos delivering their empowering message against a lush, slowly pulsing backdrop of electro-soul balladry co-written and produced by Juno winner Chris Perry. Fittingly, the video captures the Markham, Ont. siblings in equally lush natural surroundings. “It all came from something very personal,” the duo explain in a press release. “(We) wanted the song to come across as a direct message to that person.”
As for to the identity of the people who inspired them, their lips are sealed — “bad friendships” are all they’ll reveal. But it’s testament to the young pair’s burgeoning talents that the lyrics are written in a way that leaves them open to interpretation, allowing listeners to relate to the words and sentiments on their own terms. Likewise, they say the minimalist setting for the video gives viewers “an opportunity to connect with the song … (We) wanted the video to have a darker and deeper feel to help express the emotions (we) felt when writing the song.”
