Every band has one guy who just doesn’t quit. And in R.E.M., that guy has always been Peter Buck. Even back in the group’s early years, he always seemed to have at least one side project on the go. And since they called it a day back in 2011, he’s been the only member to continue making music on a semi-regular basis — either on his own or with outfits like Tired Pony, Filthy Friends, Robyn Hitchcock’s Venus 3 and Arthur Buck. And today, you can add another name to that list: Peter Buck and Luke Haines, his new duo with the former Auteurs guitarist. They’ve got an album coming out in March called Beat Poetry For the Survivalists, which “features songs about legendary rocket scientist and occultist Jack Parsons (The Enfield Hauntings, 1978), a post-apocalyptic radio station that only plays Donovan records, Bigfoot, and Pol Pot,” according to a press release. Works for me. You too? Then feel free to check out a trailer for the album above and listen to Jack Parsons below. After that, scroll down to see the rest of today’s new album revelations, and bounce over to the Upcoming Releases page to scan the whole freakishly long list. Turns out Buck isn’t the only guy who just doesn’t quit.
