Grace Potter, Muna and Sara Bareilles turn Wednesday into ladies' night.

I honestly hope they’re right about the future being female, but who the hell knows? All I can tell you is that Wednesday’s late-night TV musical lineup was very definitely female. First and perhaps foremost, Grace Potter returned to action on Jimmy Kimmel Live with stirring versions of the romantic Love is Love and Every Heartbeat, from her moody and personal new solo album Daylight. I would have preferred something that rocked a little harder, but hey, that’s life. Thankfully, electro-pop trio Muna took up the slack by putting a double shot of guitar-hero swagger into their performance of the infectious Number One Fan on Late Night with Seth Meyers. And finally, to round out the night, Sara Bareilles continued to promote her excellent recent album Amidst the Chaos by crooning the piano ballad Saint Honesty on The Late Late Show With James Corden. All in all, a good night. Now, on to the future — aka Thursday.
