Late-Night TV Music (Better Friday Edition) | Oct 24, 2019

Sugarhill, Ferg, Brockhampton & Odom brought it on Thursday. Toby, not so much.

I don’t think there’s such a thing as a bad Friday. But some Fridays are better than others — especially when they start with a full slate of musical appearances from Thursday night’s talk shows. For me, the highlight of the evening was watching Sugarhill Gang tear it up on their groundbreaking classic Rapper’s Delight on Jimmy Kimmel Live’s latest visit to Brooklyn. For those who prefer their rap a little more modern, well, you could choose between A$AP Ferg’s performance of Jet Lag on Late Night with Seth Meyers or Brockhampton’s rendition of Sugar on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Of course, if you would rather have R&B than rap, look no further than Leslie Odom Jr., getting down with his new track Go Crazy on The Late Late Show With James Corden. And last but most certainly least, Toby Keith paid homage to some classic country singers by stringing their names together into the song That’s Country Bro to hype his new greatest-hits disc on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. That’s weak bro. But hey, it still can’t ruin Friday.
